Do you want to report a case of animal cruelty?
Many people call and email us daily with reports of abuse or neglect of animals in Jakarta and other parts of Indonesia. Unfortunately, with such limited space and funding, it is impossible for us to rescue them all but we can try to answer your questions and help where we can. Please read further about the types of cases and what to report to JAAN:
If you have a case to report of a dog that has been abandoned by its owners or seems to be a stray dog please make sure you send photos along with your report. JAAN can only respond to ’emergency cases’ as we are completely full at all of our facilities. Make sure in advance that the dog does not have an owner, or if it has an owner, that that owner is willing to give up the dog. Any details about the dog are helpful such as type, sex, age, name etc. Sadly, stray dogs that are apparently being fed by anyone or healthy and not in immediate danger are not ’emergency cases’.
JAAN has no facilities to receive cats or kittens therefore we do not take them in, unless of course the case is extremely bad and falls under an ’emergency case’. Most of the time, we only post requests for adoption on our various social media outlets. Please provide photos and details about the cat or kittens that need a new home and your full contact information. JAAN does provide a service for street cat sterilization, our ‘Spay A Stray’ program. If you want to bring a cat for sterilization you must also pick it up afterwards and release in the same area as the cat was found. Email info@jakartaanimalaid.com to make an appointment for cat sterilization.
There are thousands of Long Tailed Macaque Monkeys in captivity all around Indonesia. They are not a protected species yet and therefore it is not illegal to keep them as pets. Most often people who have these monkeys get them as infants when they were cute. As the monkeys get older they become aggressive and hard to handle. That’s when people stop caring for them properly and these monkeys are subject to neglect, confinement in small cages or on chains, denied food and water etc. JAAN receives many reports about Long Tailed Macaques in poor condition that need rescue. Jaan does not have a program, space or resources to rescue all of these monkeys. We can send a team out to speak with the owner and try to get them to improve the condition for the monkey. If you have a case to report make sure you send photos, exact address, owner contact details and your contact details. Again, we only prioritize ’emergency cases’.

Please report all cases of wild animal abuse or neglect to info@jakartaanimalaid.com and jakartaanimalaid@gmail.com as soon as you learn of it. Depending on what type of animal it is and who the owner is, we may be able to rescue it and send it to a Wildlife Rehabilitation Center. This is very much on a case by case basis. Please include photos, details of the animal, owner contact details and your contact details.
