We had a very special night! At @montysjakarta the gala event & auction was a great succes & we are VERY thankful for the support of so many amazing people to help wildlife in Indonesia & especially our new project in South Sumatra to combat the wildlife trade, #SaveDennis & protect orangutans.

Monty’s & Klabogroup together with Jakarta Animal Aid Network, Prestige Magazine & Albens Cider presented an Exclusive Gala Dinner & Auction for Dennis the orangutan supporting & representing the Indonesian rainforest & all the endangered orangutans & other species due to the continuous burning & deforestation of our precious forests for the greedy palm oil industry.

Ted the photographer, which pictures are featured in the book DENNIS, a collaboration with Jakarta Animal Aid Network & Mrs. Niniek Purnomo, silent auctioned a limited amount of Dennis prints & the money will be donated to the charity!

The famous Dutch artist Pierre Guillaume had also given us a real painting of Dennis to Auction plus another famous Dutch artist Gijs Donker also painted 3 pieces to be auctioned.

A set menu created by Executive Chef Christer Foldnes & cocktails by Albens were enjoyed by the extinguished guests.

DANCING MONKEYS BANNED 4 YEARS AGO

Thanks to Indonesia’s President, Pak Jokowi. Dancing monkeys (topeng monyet) were officially banned in Jakarta precisely 4 years ago, today, when he was actually Jakarta’s Governor! Lets make Indonesia dancing monkeys free .. a NATIONAL ban is much needed!

HELP ANIMALS FROM MT. AGUNG VOLCANO

Right now, Mount Agung (Gunung Agung) in Bali, has been rumbling & threatening to erupt. Many locals around the area (approx. 144,00 people) have been evacuated, but what about the animals? Many are leaving their pets/livestock behind & many stray animals are also in danger!

Our joint team consisting of other animal rescue groups (BARC 4 Bali Dogs, Bali Pet Crusaders, COP, iAnimals Indonesia & of course JAAN) are doing our best to help the animals over there in anyway we can. We have evacuated many, built temporary shelters for live stock (away from the red zones) & are continuing to do daily trips to feed any animals that cannot be evacuated.

They featured us in this story explaining why Harry Potter is a curse for Owls. Do not fall into the trap & be a part of making innocent animals suffer. It happened to dolphins after the popular tv series, Flipper. People paid to see dolphin circuses, unknowingly making them suffer a life of cruelty.
This is now happening to the owls from Harry Potter. We are a big fans of Harry Potter but are against taking owls from the wild to be a ‘pet’. As cool as Hedwig is, delivering your mail, the movie is a fantasy & we want Hedwig & all his friends to stay in the wild where they belong.

Watch this fantastic & informative film about dolphins in captivity, within Indonesia. Indonesia is one of the last countries that still allows ‘traveling dolphin circuses’. LONG TAILED MACAQUES SOLD AT MARKET

Long Tailed Macaques for sale at the Jogjakarta Animal Market. The monkeys all have been torn away from their families, in this process their mothers are killed!

The babies are sold as pets or to be trained as dancing monkeys. When the monkeys reach adulthood they end up chained or caged as they totally loose their ‘cuteness’ & then people realize they are wild animals, after which they suffer tremendously & die in vain. Sometimes they escape & conflicts happen because people react aggressively to them so the monkeys will defend themselve & attack. We want to see an end to this crime!
