At JAAN we have a lot of beautiful senior dogs and unfortunately all of them have a story of either neglect, being abandoned or simply no longer wanted.
Being their age and condition, senior dogs are not highly adoptable as people don’t want to adopt older dogs, meaning most of them will be with us until their last day. It gives us great pleasure to give them a good life, especially in the last period of their lives and to make sure they are happy, comfortable, get lots of attention and most of all love, which they so deserve. Its so important to give these neglected, abused & unwanted ‘Golden Oldies’ the best of everything!
However, caring for senior dogs is not cheap since most have medical issues and need ongoing medical treatment and care.
By financially sponsoring one of our golden oldies, you will make a direct impact on their life!
‘Sponsor A Senior’ Program The program will include: – An official Sponsor Certificate
– A Fact Sheet
– Monthly photos/videos
– Monthly detailed updates
– The love and joy you get for helping saving a life
The monthly cost of financially sponsoring a senior dog is 250,000. This will cover all expenses such as food and medication.
Scarlet, a Rottweiler was rescued with another dog (a Pitbull we named Megan) about 1 & a half years ago. Megan was still very young but Scarlet is a lot older. They used to be caged in front of the ex owners restaurant until he moved and decided not to bring them. Then they were given to a garbage collector. So the pair were moved from their small cages to an even unhealthier situation!
They were with the garbage collector for 1 year until we rescued them. So, basically Scarlet had been caged her entire life. She is slightly ‘traumatized’ from her rotten life & being not young anymore, we have to maintain & monitor her health closely. Although she can be grumpy, Scarlet really is a sweet girl, she just needs to get to know you first before she gives her heart.
Nero lived in a dark storage for many many years. We have no idea why on earth they would put him there in the first place. He developed a hernia that became so big & infected that when he finally got rescued it was impossible to fix. Nero also has heart problems so we just try to keep him comfortable & just give him the best love we can. He is still happy & although he doesn’t move much will always manage to get up & scuttle towards you for cuddles & gentle pets on the head.
Clara was rescued a couple of years ago & brought to JAAN. She lived as a stray in a housing complex for many, many years. As most strays, she wasn’t in the best condition but is now happy & healthy. She is very sweet & calm and waddles along with the rest of the pack, but does keep to herself at times.
This little old lady did have a horrible life. Mindy lived in a closed dark cage (made of bamboo) right above a gutter for 7 + years before JAAN rescued her. She was never let out & had to live there 24/7 her urine, waste & food was all there, in a tiny, dirty & dark area. It was very shocking for the team. She developed many health issues but one being the scabies all over, she was practically skin, no fur. Her skin might never fully recover because it was pretty severe after such long term neglect, isolation & stress. She is quite & keeps to herself but we re happy seeing her in much better shape & seeing her tail wag again!
This old man Papu is a real sweetheart! He was dumped, on the street, by his previous owners on the street (in very bad condition) after they got themselves a ‘new’ dog. The neighbor even tried to talk to them but they replied ‘they just dont want him anymore’. We dont know what happened to him with his ex owners, but he was so so traumatized when we rescued him & even after the many months that followed, until finally he is comfortable with most of the team now. He had many, many health problems but still remains a happy, sweet boy.
